Rose Island

In 1968, off the coast of Rimini, the engineer Giorgio Rosa (Elio Germano) builds a platform in the Adriatic just outside Italian territorial waters and declares it a nation of its own, with Esperanto as its official language. Sydney Sibilia fills the film with a crowd of tourists and curious visitors who come out to see it. Giorgio, a stubborn man with a drawing board and an idea he won't put down, has to defend it against an Italian government that wants it gone.
