Rosemary Woodhouse (Mia Farrow) is a newlywed living in a Manhattan apartment building with her husband Guy (John Cassavetes). When she becomes pregnant, the elderly neighbors Minnie and Roman Castevet (Ruth Gordon, Sidney Blackmer) grow solicitous with herbs and advice. Polanski tightens the frame around Rosemary's growing certainty that the people around her have designs on her baby, and that its safety hangs on whether anyone will believe her.
