Roxie Hart
“The gal who became a national pastime!”
On a rainy night in a Chicago café, a veteran reporter named Homer Howard (George Montgomery) starts telling a story about a crime from 1927, and the crowd around him keeps growing. The story is Roxie Hart (Ginger Rogers), the woman who stood trial for it, and the lawyer Billy Flynn (Adolphe Menjou) she hires. William A. Wellman, working from Maurine Dallas Watkins's play, keeps the telling brisk and the courtroom noisy.
