It is New Year's Eve in 1976, and the year's last hours are running out when Father Time (Red Skelton) discovers that Happy, the baby new year, has gone missing. Rudolph is sent to find him, with Jules Bass and Arthur Rankin Jr.'s stop-motion figures keeping the search moving through the dwindling night. If Rudolph has not found Happy by midnight, the new year can't begin.
