“Rusty James can't live up to his brother's reputation. His brother can't live it down.”

Rusty James (Matt Dillon) is picking fights in his Tulsa neighborhood, hungry for a gang war that ended before he was old enough to lead it. Then his older brother, the Motorcycle Boy (Mickey Rourke), rides back into town, a legend Rusty has spent his whole life trying to match. Francis Ford Coppola shoots it in black and white, and Rusty has to measure himself against that name while his girlfriend Patty (Diane Lane) and his father (Dennis Hopper) look on.
