Jack R. Ramsay (Tom Selleck) is a police officer in the near future who wants nothing more than to be left alone with his job, which is tracking down household robots that have gone wrong. When one turns out to have been programmed to kill, he and Officer Karen Thompson (Cynthia Rhodes) trace it toward Dr. Charles Luther (Gene Simmons). Michael Crichton films the chase in clean, hard lines and keeps the pace tight from the first call.
