Running with Scissors

“Do not disturb them. They already are.”

Augusten Burroughs (Joseph Cross) wants a normal childhood, which is hard when your father drinks and your mother, Deirdre (Annette Bening), keeps unravelling. She hands him over to her therapist, Dr. Finch (Brian Cox), and he moves into the Finch household and its bizarre extended family. Ryan Murphy, adapting Burroughs' own memoir, films the 1970s with grainy grit and plays the chaos for comedy.
