“The fastest hands in the East meet the biggest mouth in the West.”

A Chinese diplomat's daughter is kidnapped in Los Angeles, and Hong Kong police inspector Lee (Jackie Chan) arrives to find her. The LAPD assigns him Detective Carter (Chris Tucker), a fast-talking cop who speaks no Cantonese and has no interest in protocol. Lee and Carter clash at every turn, but as they chase the case through the city's underworld, their inability to work together becomes the only thing keeping them alive.
