“Sam Stone's wife has just been kidnapped... And he doesn't want her back!”

In 1986 Los Angeles, the clothing tycoon Sam Stone (Danny DeVito) hates his wife Barbara (Bette Midler) so much that he has been plotting her death. When two kidnappers grab her and demand $500,000, he is thrilled and decides to ignore every instruction, hoping they will finish the job for him. David and Jerry Zucker play it deadpan, letting Barbara's shouting and Sam's glee carry the mayhem.
