“Adventure has a new destination.”

Dirk Pitt (Matthew McConaughey), a former Navy SEAL turned treasure hunter, heads into the African desert with his wisecracking partner Al Giordino (Steve Zahn). They are chasing a Confederate ironclad rumored to have vanished long ago, and whatever treasure sits inside it. Breck Eisner builds the film around two friends who treat a lost warship and a doctor on the run, Eva Rojas (Penélope Cruz), as one more reason to keep going.
