Sami Blood

Elle Marja (Lene Cecilia Sparrok) is fourteen, a reindeer-breeding Sami girl sent to a boarding school in the 1930s. There she meets the racism of her teachers and the measuring tools of the phrenological examinations, and she starts to dream of another life, one she can only reach by becoming someone else and cutting every tie to her family. Amanda Kernell, in her feature debut, builds the film out of her earlier short Stoerre Vaerie.
