Samurai Spy

(1965)Directed by Masahiro Shinoda100 minAction, Drama

Sasuke Sarutobi (Kōji Takahashi) is a samurai spy worn out by years of war, and in a Japan newly unified under the Tokugawa shogunate he only wants peace. Then the high-ranking spy Tatewaki Koriyama defects from the shogun to a rival clan, and Sasuke is pulled into the hunt, while a white-hooded figure trails them both. Masahiro Shinoda fills the intrigue with ninja, double crosses and shifting loyalties, and the secrets that matter turn out to be the personal ones.
