Sands of Iwo Jima

The Marines of the Second World War start out in training, where Sgt. John Stryker (John Wayne) is hated and feared by the men under him, who take him for a cold-hearted sadist. Allan Dwan follows the squad from the drills to the beaches of Iwo Jima, and his rigid discipline slowly starts to make sense to them. Hardest on PFC Pete Conway (John Agar), Stryker keeps pushing a young man who has every reason to despise him.
