“An assassination which shook the British Empire”
Why a man waits twenty-one years to carry out a single act is the question under Shoojit Sircar's film, which follows Udham Singh (Vicky Kaushal) from Afghanistan's mountains to London in 1933, the memory of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre still lodged in him. On 13th March, 1940, he kills Michael O'Dwyer (Shaun Scott), the man who ran Punjab in April 1919. Grief here does not fade with time, and the film treats it as a wound a person can carry for decades.
