“HE MADE LOVE TO HER TO MAKE HER CONFESS MURDER! Then She Made A Confession That Made Even The Devil's Ears Burn!”

Ted Shane (Warren William) is a private detective who gets pulled into a hunt for a jewel-laden object that several shady parties want for themselves. Among them are Valerie Purvis (Bette Davis), who lies to him with total ease, and Madame Barabbas (Alison Skipworth), a lady thief with her own claim. William Dieterle plays it as a comedy, and what holds the film together is Ted and Valerie, each sure they can use the other.
