Satan’s Brew

(1976)Directed by Rainer Werner Fassbinder113 minComedy, Drama

Walter Kranz (Kurt Raab) is a celebrated poet in Germany who has not written a word in two years. He lives off his reputation, a brother who can barely follow a conversation, and several mistresses he keeps strung along. Fassbinder puts him in a cramped, noisy household where one unguarded impulse with a pen could cost him his name, and a murder inquiry is circling.
