Satyricon

“Rome. Before Christ. After Fellini.”

Encolpio (Martin Potter) is a young Roman who loses his lover Gitone (Max Born) to his friend Ascilto (Hiram Keller), and he sets out to end his own life. An earthquake brings his house down first, and he drifts through Nero's Rome from one strange scene to the next, among them Trimalcione's (Mario Romagnoli) banquet. Fellini treats the pagan empire as a mirror held up to the modern world.
