Liz Evans (Samantha Morton) is a hairdresser in Carmarthen, Wales, who also runs the local youth theatre. In 1993 she starts a campaign to keep the town's Lyric cinema from being shut down. Sara Sugarman follows her and the mayor, Richard Goodridge (Tom Felton), as they write to Steven Spielberg and ask for a Jurassic Park premiere, because a small town's cinema is where its people still sit down together.
