Saving Private Ryan

“The mission is a man.”

June 1944, Normandy beach. Captain Miller (Tom Hanks) and his men wade through the surf into machine-gun fire, the sand packed with bodies and screams. Miller receives orders to find Private James Ryan, whose three brothers are dead, and bring him home. The mission becomes a reckoning: each soldier measures the risk of dying for one man against the arithmetic of war itself.
