Saving Private Ryan

“The mission is a man.”

In June 1944, American troops come ashore at Normandy, and three of the four Ryan brothers are already dead. Captain Miller (Tom Hanks) is handed eight men and an order to cross German-held France and find the fourth, a private somewhere behind enemy lines. Spielberg sends them out as a squad that has to ask whether one man's life is worth the lives of the eight sent to get him.
