London in the early 1960s, where Stephen Ward (John Hurt), an English osteopath fond of good company, takes in a young dancer named Christine Keeler (Joanne Whalley) and becomes her friend and mentor. Through his parties, Christine and Mandy Rice-Davies (Bridget Fonda) start dating men from the Conservative Party. Michael Caton-Jones follows the bond between Stephen and Christine, a protector and the girl he took in, whose closeness the rest of the story leans on.
