In 1968 Pennsylvania, Stella Nicholls (Zoe Colletti) and her friends break into a boarded mansion and find a leather-bound book of stories. The book's pages fill themselves with new tales, each one foretelling how one of them will die. Stella watches her friends pulled into the book's logic one by one, and learns too late what it costs to write your way out.
