“Some things cannot be unheard.”

Why would anyone pay a man two years out of work to sit and transcribe phone calls, and who is on the other end of the tapes? Duval (François Cluzet) takes the job from an enigmatic businessman (Denis Podalydès) without asking, and Thomas Kruithof, in his first feature, keeps him bent over the recordings. Duval types alone at his desk in the headphones' quiet, and the voices he writes down are not his.
