“Gluttony. Greed. Sloth. Envy. Wrath. Pride. Lust.”

The bodies turn up one at a time, each arranged to match one of the seven deadly sins, in an unnamed city where it never seems to stop raining. Detective Somerset (Morgan Freeman), a week from retirement, reads his way into the killer's logic, while his new partner Mills (Brad Pitt) has no patience for the books. David Fincher gives them each new scene a few more feet of darkness, and the two men keep walking into it.
