Searching for Bobby Fischer

“Every journey begins with a single move.”

Seven-year-old Josh Waitzkin (Max Pomeranc) wants to play chess, and he is good at it in a way nobody around him can explain. His father Fred (Joe Mantegna) hires the exacting teacher Bruce Pandolfini (Ben Kingsley), while a hustler named Vinnie (Laurence Fishburne) teaches him speed in the park. Steven Zaillian keeps the film close to Fred and Josh, a father pushing and a son who won't turn hard to win.
