“The Impossible True Story”

Penny Chenery (Diane Lane) is a Colorado housewife with no racing experience when she takes over her ailing father's Meadow Stables in Doswell, Virginia. A male-dominated business waits for her to fail, and she hires the veteran trainer Lucien Laurin (John Malkovich) to help her stay in it. Randall Wallace puts her at the stable in the Virginia dawn, the whole 1973 season still ahead of her.
