Secretary

“Assume the position.”

Lee Holloway (Maggie Gyllenhaal) comes home from a stay in a mental hospital to a family that watches her too closely, and she takes a typing job at the law office of E. Edward Grey (James Spader). Mr. Grey is exacting about every typo, every misplaced comma, every habit she brought in with her. Steven Shainberg lets the two of them circle each other across the desk, and Lee, who has spent years being handled as fragile, finds she wants to be told what to do.
