Seisaku's Wife

Okane (Ayako Wakao) is a small-town girl who has married a wealthy old man to get out of poverty, and she is living with that bargain when the Russo-Japanese war begins. Yasuzō Masumura sets her against a village that watches her and a military that wants men for the front, with Seisaku (Takahiro Tamura) among them. It is a story about what a person owes to a country, to a husband, and to the one thing she chose for herself.
