Selma
“One dream can change the world.”
In 1965, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (David Oyelowo) takes his voting rights campaign to Selma, Alabama, where Black residents are still turned away at the courthouse. He presses President Lyndon B. Johnson (Tom Wilkinson) to act, while Gov. George Wallace (Tim Roth) stands firm against any change. Ava DuVernay stages the marches and the quiet strategy meetings with the same plain, steady attention.
