Shadows in Paradise

Nikander (Matti Pellonpää) collects rubbish in Helsinki and has a plan to get out of it, until the partner he was counting on dies. Then one evening he meets Ilona (Kati Outinen), a cashier at the supermarket who has no money to spare and little patience left for anyone. Aki Kaurismäki lets the two of them circle each other in few words, Ilona behind her till, Nikander with his rubbish truck and his wrecked plans.
