“His camera Was More Deadly Than A Gangster's Gun!”

In 1950, Jack Early (Howard Duff) is a photographer working the city's newsrooms, hungry for a place at the top and willing to push his way there. His nerve lands him a job at a major paper, then a portrait of the crime boss Nick Palmer (Brian Donlevy), who takes him in. Joseph Pevney watches a young man with a camera and no scruples decide that everyone around him is a rung on the ladder.
