“Bandits by duty... Freedom our faith.”

In the 1800s, Balli (Ranbir Kapoor) wants his tribe of dacoits out from under the British Raj, where they live in captivity. Karan Malhotra gives the story a scale to match, with Daroga Shuddh Singh (Sanjay Dutt) enforcing the empire's order on the people he rules. It is a fight over who owns a people's freedom, and the tribe has only its own name to fight under.
