Shanghai Blues

(1984)Directed by Tsui Hark103 minComedy, Romance

Shanghai, 1937: during a bomb raid, a soldier and a young woman take shelter together under a bridge, and meet in the dark without ever seeing each other's faces. Ten years later Tung Kwok-Man (Kenny Bee), now a tuba player in a marching band who writes songs on the side, comes back to the city to find her. Tsui Hark fills the story with brisk comic timing, as Tung and Shu-Shu (Sylvia Chang) end up in the same building and still don't know it.
