Shanghai Surprise

“A romantic adventure for the dangerous at heart.”

Glendon Wasey (Sean Penn), a fortune hunter in Shanghai, wants the fastest way out of China and agrees to chase a missing shipment of stolen opium. Gloria Tatlock (Madonna), a missionary nurse, wants the drug for her patients, so the two are thrown together against every thug and smuggler in the city. Jim Goddard keeps them running through the streets, a pair with opposite reasons for the hunt and a growing, reluctant pull toward each other.
