“Death belongs to God alone”

A young prison guard in South Africa is facing a murder charge, and nothing in the facts explains why a man trained to carry out executions would kill. Lawyer John Weber (Steve Coogan) takes the case, and Oliver Schmitz follows him as he sorts through the guard's record of the men he has hanged. Leon Labuschagne (Garion Dowds) says little, and what the work has done to him is what Weber has to put before a court.
