Shoeshine

Pasquale (Franco Interlenghi) and Giuseppe (Rinaldo Smordoni) shine shoes on the streets of postwar Rome and put away every spare coin toward a horse they both love. A burglary they are tricked into helping with sends them to a juvenile prison, and Vittorio De Sica follows them through the cells and the questioning. Inside, the two boys who shared everything start to turn on each other.
