Shogun's Joy of Torture
In 1968 Japan, Toei released a feature of three linked tales, framed by a young magistrate who recalls crimes committed by women and the punishments that followed. Teruo Ishii stages each case in lurid color, a catalog of cruelty meant to be looked at in full. The magistrate listens and remembers, and his steady voice is all that holds the three stories together.
