Shy People
“Women from separate worlds bound by a secret that will haunt them forever.”
Diana (Jill Clayburgh), a Cosmo writer in New York, takes her wayward teenage daughter Grace (Martha Plimpton) deep into the Louisiana bayous to find relatives she has never met. Andrei Konchalovsky sets the two of them down among kin who run their own household, led by Ruth (Barbara Hershey), by rules the city never taught them. Diana and Grace arrive already at odds, and the visit pulls mother and daughter closer to each other and further apart.
