Side Out

Monroe Clark (C. Thomas Howell) is a law student who comes to California for the summer and wants nothing more than to play professional volleyball. Peter Israelson puts him on the beach beside Zack Barnes (Peter Horton), an older player who knows the game and the circuit far better than he does. The two start out as partners, and what grows between them is the part Monroe can't plan for.
