Side Street

(1950)Directed by Anthony Mann83 minThriller, Crime
“Where temptation lurks!”

New York, a few weeks before Christmas, and Joe Norson (Farley Granger) is a mail carrier with a pregnant wife, Ellen (Cathy O'Donnell), and too little money. One day he takes an envelope from a lawyer's office, expecting a few hundred dollars, and finds $30,000 inside. Anthony Mann shot it on the streets under the Third Avenue El, and Joe walks them with his head down, a decent man who can't stop thinking about what he did.
