“In a city of 8 million people, what are the odds the perfect two will meet?”

In Manhattan at the start of the 2000s, six people are working through the aftermath of one relationship and the start of the next. Tommy (Edward Burns) and Annie (Heather Graham) are among them, and Edward Burns cuts their stories against interviews with New Yorkers talking about love directly to the camera. Each of the six turns out to be a step or two away from the others, and what connects them is how badly they all want someone to stay.
