Silent Souls

The Northern Volga is where the Meri people once lived, a small Finnish tribe that dissolved among the Russians. Miron (Yuriy Tsurilo), who runs a paper and pulp mill, drives there to bury his wife Tanya (Yuliya Aug) at the place they spent their honeymoon, with the photographer Aist (Igor Sergeev) beside him. Aleksey Fedorchenko follows the two men as Miron talks about their life, and the old rituals of a vanished people are all he has left to carry her with.
