“Vote Early. Vote Often.”

A body turns up in a lake during the filming of a campaign ad for Dickie Pilager (Chris Cooper), a fumbling Republican running for governor of Colorado. His handlers send a former reporter to look into it quietly, and John Sayles has him ask the sort of questions nobody wants asked. Meanwhile his old flame Nora Allardyce (Maria Bello) keeps turning up in the story, and she knows the newsman better than he'd like.
