Since You Went Away

(1944)Directed by John Cromwell177 minDrama
“A love story of today's love and laughter”

In 1943, a Midwestern household learns to run without its father, who has been called up to war. Anne Hilton (Claudette Colbert) stays behind with her two teenage daughters, Jane (Jennifer Jones) and Bridget (Shirley Temple), and the family takes in boarders as the people around them come and go. John Cromwell keeps the focus on the mother and the girls, the three of them holding the house together by leaning on each other.
