Sirens

(1994)Directed by John Duigan98 min · RComedy, Drama
“Love, Lust, Art and Religion”

The church is worried about the painter Norman Lindsay (Sam Neill), whose planned piece for an international art exhibit is considered blasphemous. The clergyman Anthony Campion (Hugh Grant) is sent to Lindsay's home in 1930s Australia to talk him out of it. John Duigan lets the two men argue while Estella (Tara Fitzgerald) wanders toward the models. The question under all of it is how much of the body a person is allowed to look at, and who gets to decide.
