Sixteen Candles

“Turning sixteen isn't easy, when you've fallen in love... for the first time.”

Samantha Baker (Molly Ringwald) wakes up on her sixteenth birthday to find that her whole family has forgotten it, too busy with her older sister's wedding. At school she pines for Jake Ryan (Michael Schoeffling), a popular senior who doesn't know she exists, while Ted (Anthony Michael Hall), a freshman known as the Geek, keeps trailing after her. John Hughes, making his directorial debut, gives the suburban hallways and cafeteria the clutter of a real high school.
