Skin Game

(1971)Directed by Paul Bogart102 min · PGAction, Comedy, Western
“To market, to market, to sell your best friend, then split up the money and do it again.”

Quincy Drew (James Garner) sells his friend Jason O'Rourke (Louis Gossett Jr.) into slavery in one town, frees him, and rides on to the next set of suckers. Jason is a free Black man from the North, and the scam keeps the two of them fed in the years before the Civil War. Paul Bogart has them cross the West on dusty roads, Quincy grinning from the wagon seat, Jason sitting beside him with his wrists still marked.
