“On Board Flight 502 Is A Bomb. It Could Be Anywhere. And A Skyjacker. It Could Be Anyone.”

Capt. Henry "Hank" O'Hara (Charlton Heston) wants one thing from the flight, to get his Boeing 707 and everyone aboard it to the ground in one piece. A passenger has other plans, a Vietnam veteran who claims to carry a bomb and demands to be flown to Russia. John Guillermin keeps O'Hara at the controls, his hands on the yoke, his eyes on the instruments, the cabin behind him full of passengers, among them Angela Thacher (Yvette Mimieux).
