Slacker

In Austin, Texas, in 1990, a young man gets out of a taxi and says his piece about dream theories to a driver who barely answers. Richard Linklater follows one day through the town, handing off from one person to the next after only a few minutes each: a woman selling Madonna's Pap test, an old anarchist looking for recruits. Nobody here is in a hurry, and the film treats their private obsessions as the real work of the day.
