Sleeping Beauty

“What happens while she sleeps...”

Lucy (Emily Browning), a university student scraping by on odd jobs, answers an ad and ends up in a candlelit room with Clara (Rachael Blake), who explains the work: Lucy will drink a sedative, fall asleep, and let wealthy men lie beside her. Julia Leigh, in her first film as director, holds each scene in long, quiet takes. Lucy keeps saying yes, handing over her nights to strangers while she stays curiously distant from her own life.
