“You like to watch... don't you?”

Carly Norris (Sharon Stone), a book editor recently divorced, takes an apartment in a Manhattan high-rise and learns the last tenant died there under circumstances no one will explain. Phillip Noyce follows her as she meets her neighbors, among them Zeke Hawkins (William Baldwin) and Jack Lansford (Tom Berenger), each friendly in his own way. She has signed the lease, and the building seems to know more about her than she does about it.
